Hailing from Long Island, NY, Stephanie Schenkel was raised in Brentwood, TN where she has become an integral part in the growth of lacrosse as a player, as an assistant coach in a variety of summer camps and clinics, and as head coach of the Woodland Girls Lacrosse team.  Stephanie has successfully coached the Woodland Girls Varsity team to a championship win in each of her two years coaching the team.  She is now beginning her third year with the team.
She started playing in the 7th grade on one of the first few middle school teams in the area.  Upon entering Ravenwood High School, Stephanie was a key player in assisting her team to the state championship tournament every year.  Also as a high school junior, she won the All-Tournament Team Player award at the Dogwood Tournament (Atlanta, GA) and the Ravenwood Best Defense Award.  Stephanie also played for the first travel team for the state of TN (TNLAX) and competed in several tournaments around the country, as well as attended may top NCAA Division I camps.  She was recruited nationally, eventually signing to become a Division I Longwood University Lancer (Farmville, VA).  While competing for four years in a D1 program that competed against many top teams and traveled extensively, Stephanie also worked hard in the classroom.  She majored in Communication Studies with a minor in Coaching and graduated in May of 2013.

We want to officially welcome and introduce our new JV coach, Scotti Norman to the Woodland lacrosse team! We are so fortunate to have someone with such experience and a true love for the game of lacrosse! Coach Scotti was nice enough to share some information about herself in the message below:

Hi everyone! My name is Scotti Norman, and I am SO EXCITED about helping out this year. I'm from San Diego, California, where I grew up surfing, enjoying the beach, and playing field hockey, softball, and soccer. I played lacrosse at UCLA all four years, and was president and captain the last two years. I also coached the JV lacrosse team at Beverly Hills High School, which was a great experience. I moved to Nashville five years ago to start the PhD program in archaeology at Vanderbilt University. I have been an archaeologist for 10 years now, and I work in Peru studying the Inka and Spanish conquests--which is where I was the last 10 months doing my field research. Right now I am writing my dissertation and should graduate some time next year. I've also done work in Ecuador, Chile, and Belize--if anyone has any interest in archaeology, I would love to chat about it! When I moved here, I missed being active and being part of a team so so much. I have been so thrilled to help out at Woodland, not only to help create a fun and friendly environment for the girls, but also because team sports were such a huge part of my life growing up. I have been so impressed with the girls so far, both skills-wise and attitude-wise, and Coach Steph and I have so many plans for the season! Here's to a great next few months, GO WOODLAND LACROSSE!
